Air Conditioning
Basically, the A/C in your car is like a mini refrigerator. It’s purpose is to move the hot air from inside the car thus replacing it with cooler air. It is made of several components, and, if one of those parts stop performing, you will notice it pretty quickly.
Your A/C consists of 6 major components.
- Compressor
- Refrigerant
- Condenser
- Expansion Valve
- Evaporator
- Receiver/Dryer
The compressor takes the refrigerant, compresses and circulates it through the system. The refrigerant is what carries the heat away. The condenser changes the refrigerant from from a gas to a liquid. The expansion valve regulates the flow and drops the pressure of the refrigerant. The evaporator transfers heat to the refrigerant. And finally, the receiver/dryer works as a filter and removes moisture from the refrigerant.
As you can see, all of these parts play a vital role in the proper operation of your air conditioning. If one part fails, your A/C can shut down completely.
